This book analyses the main naval and anti-aircraft gun batteries in Sicily, point by point, and includes numerous previously unpublished photographs from 1943. Sketches and plans of the sites are combined with numerous colour photographs taken today of the same sites.

Satellite coordinates also provide useful clues for locating the sites shown, especially those within walking distance. Bunkers, blockhouses, trenches, depots dug into the mountains and finally the legendary 381 mm battery "Opera A", which is explained in great detail with photos, plans and cut-outs.
