After the first edition dedicated to the LST, LCT and LCI landing craft, the "Sicilia WW2" series presents a volume dedicated to the amphibious and smaller landing craft used by the Americans and British in Sicily in 1943. It begins with the APA and AKA assault ships with their LCVP, LCA and LCM landing craft and then looks at how vehicles could be modified to negotiate deep fords.
Then there is a chapter on the Ford GPA, one on the DUKW amphibious truck, with the 479th Amphibian Truck Company and finally some curiosities with specialised vehicles such as the DUKW with SCR-299 radio set and radar-equipped vehicles. The book concludes with a discussion of the POM codes in Sicily and the use of Caterpillars on the beaches.
