"The Defence of Catania" is a photobook that has been lost for far too long and deals with one of the most difficult subjects for the British, namely the fact that they failed to conquer the city of Catania. They entered the city accompanied by police and carabinieri after the Italian and German troops had abandoned their positions.

It has now been proven that the photos of British soldiers surrounding the cathedral with their weapons are historical forgeries. The defence of the city is then shown, especially from the Italian and German sides, with a photographic analysis of the various fortifications, the P.B.C. (Coastal Blocking Posts) and the soldiers' barracks. An important document is the historical diary of the defence of Port "E", and the testimony of the infantryman Piccardi Giovanni is very interesting. The book concludes with photos of the "Tiro a Segno" line, the fortress at the Aunt Lisa crossroads and the last defence before the cathedral.
