Volume 10 of the "Warship" series. To counter a growing threat from Soviet submarines and aircraft shortly after the Second World War, the Royal Netherlands Navy commissioned new ships that were classified as ASW destroyers but were close to contemporary destroyers in terms of specifications. Although still suffering from the destruction of the war, the Dutch shipbuilding industry managed to design and build these ships in two classes. The "Drenthe" belonged to the most successful type 47B series.
