The Cold War began in 1945 and ended with the fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989. During this period, two blocs faced each other: NATO and the Warsaw Pact. The USSR developed new handguns that were in line with its strategy. These weapons were supplied to brother countries and provided Marxist rebel movements around the world. This so-called Cold War threatened to escalate into a hot war and spread throughout the world through coups and guerrilla warfare. The communist satellite states developed copies of Soviet weapons, but also their own models based on their own arms industries. Today, these weapons are available on the surplus market and as collector's items.
