This book provides a complete overview of the knives and daggers used in the French army during the First World War. Whether personally acquired or regularly received from the army, the knives and daggers accompanied the French soldier through all the ups and downs of everyday soldiering in WW1. More than anything else, these weapons represent the brutality of trench warfare during the four years of this conflict. In 256 pages, this book presents several hundred models of knives and daggers, including their sheaths, some of them very rare. The work is illustrated with more than 700 contemporary bw photos and current colour photos of the original knives and daggers and their details. The majority of the illustrations are still unpublished.

This is a complete new edition of an 80-page book previously published by the author in 2013. It was jointly compiled with the indispensable help of collectors from all over the world and the greatest French and European museums.
