Manufacturer

Webley revolvers were the primary handguns of British officers during the extraordinary colonial expansion that characterised the Victorian era. Initially purchased privately by Her Majesty's officers, these revolvers were adopted by the British Army, where they served as service weapons from 1897 until the Second World War. The bulky triangular holster containing a large Webley and the small rounded cartridge belt, both attached to the Sam Brown belt, were an integral part of the silhouette of the 19th and 20th century British officer and immediately evoked associations with a world of extraordinary adventure. The Webley revolvers, manufactured by a nation that had achieved the highest standard of quality in metalworking by the end of the 19th century, are, like their various British competitors (Adams, Tranter, Kynoch, etc.), wonderful pieces of machinery with impeccable workmanship that delight contemporary collectors.
