Description
Fourth volume of a five-part series on the military events of the Thirty Years' War, 1618-1648. Description of the war events during the French phase of the Thirty Years' War, which lasted from 1635 to the end of the war in 1648. In the previous phases of the Thirty Years' War, France had already supported the Habsburgs' opponents with large sums of money. But now it was time to actively enter the war. In an alliance with Sweden, France went against the imperial forces with troop power, the conquest of Alsace and Lorraine being one of France's main goals.
In addition to the military, political and religious aspects of the Thirty Years' War, the volume also describes the appearance of the warrior people of the time, the organisation of the armies, their warfare, as well as the everyday life of the mercenaries, army commanders and troops.
