Revolution in 1525 In the spring of 1525, the peasants rose up in parts of the German Empire, but lacked a unified strategy. Not so in Tyrol: the peasant republic planned by Michael Gaismair (the nobility and clergy were to be permanently excluded from the government) was far ahead of its time. This draft constitution was to remain the most progressive in Europe for centuries.
Ralf Höller: Born in Bonn in 1960, historian, journalist and author. Höller studied English language and literature, history and education in Bonn and Edinburgh. His most recent publication is: "Das Wintermärchen. Schriftsteller erzählen die Bayerische Revolution und Räterepublik 1918/19" (Berlin: Edition Tiamat, 2017); as editor: "norbert c. kaser, hier bin ich niemand d. h. ich. Letters from Stord" (Innsbruck: Haymon 2018).
