Description
His name was James Butler Hickok, but they called him Wild Bill. The best shot in the West, womaniser, gambler and drunkard without equal. He enforced the law in the wilds of Kansas until one fateful night when he shot his deputy and hung up his sheriff's badge. After years of aimless wandering, acting in the wake of Buffalo Bill and Texas Jack, Wild Bill's heart is no longer in it. He hates the eternal masquerades, the illusions of a world he has long since lost. In search of authenticity, he sets off for Deadwood in the Dakota territory of the Great Plains. He has a date with destiny.
Under the direction of historian Farid Ameur, "The True Story of the Wild West" traces the careers of the most charismatic figures of the time. The scenarists and illustrators combine their respect for the cherished conventions of the genre with an unconditional commitment to historical veracity. In this way, both the light and the dark sides of the Wild West are presented without completely dissolving the myth. Each album in the series is self-contained and includes a historical appendix.
