This autobiography describes the sometimes traumatic experiences in France and the Russian campaign of the ordinary soldier Johann Scheins. The trauma of the Second World War always accompanied Johann Scheins and his family. There were no institutions such as trauma therapists etc. to help the former war veterans come to terms with their terrible experiences. His children and wife also suffered from the war trauma. At Christmas, which was the time of his war captivity, there were only small presents for the children, but many dramatic stories from the Second World War. So Johann Schein's children practically grew up in a "post-war". As he lay dying in June 2015, he said to his family: "Now a new era begins".
