He was called the "eye of the Third Reich". Throughout World War II, photographer Walter Frentz accompanied Adolf Hitler and his closest entourage at every turn, gaining insights into the innermost circles of Nazi rule. The former cameraman of Leni Riefenstahl was also always at Hitler's side in the "Wolf's Lair". After the German attack on the Soviet Union, the bunker system in East Prussia had quickly become Hitler's most important command bridge. It was from here that he organised the war. And it was in this place that Stauffenberg's explosive device exploded, which was to bring death to the "Führer"... During these historical events, Frentz took numerous colour photographs - completely new at the time - which are now being made accessible to the public for the first time. In this comprehensive illustrated book, they make the "Wolf's Lair" appear anew before the reader's eyes and thus open up this place steeped in history to him. Supported by Christel Focken's detailed commentaries, a new insight into Hitler's most important command centre is created.
