Although the airline?s roots date back to 1956, when the North Vietnamese government established an air force regiment that operated as an airline under the name Vietnam Civil Aviation, the airline as we know it today was officially founded on 27 May 1995. Over the past three decades, the airline has grown significantly and, with a fleet of almost 100 aircraft, operates one of the youngest fleets in Asia, offering over 300 daily flights throughout Asia as well as to distant destinations in Europe and North America. To celebrate this anniversary, the airline has painted the legendary Lac bird onto this 787 Dreamliner. The mythical bird appears on bronze drums created by the Dong Son culture, a Bronze Age civilisation in South-East Asia dating back to 1000 BC.
