In this memoir, former Unterscharführer Otto Altmann describes his experiences from World War II, which he lived through as a member of the 3rd SS Panzer Division "Totenkopf". He describes, among other things, the battles in the Demjansk Cauldron and his deployment before Warsaw in October 1944. He devotes a great deal of attention to his experiences as a Russian prisoner of war, which he brings home to the reader with all their hardships and privations.
