After Banèr's advance to Kassel in 1636, the imperial forces endeavoured to drive Banèr out again as quickly as possible. The author reports in detail on Banèr's pursuit from Kassel via Thuringia, Saxony and Brandenburg to Anklam and Stettin. In particular, the role of the first Hesse-Darmstadt army is described, from its deployment to its almost complete destruction.
The work is intended as a counterpart to the events presented so far almost exclusively from a Protestant perspective. Nevertheless, the Protestant arguments should certainly have their say. As is usual with this author, extensive study of the files has been carried out, true to the motto: to report based on sources.
