In 2002, Germany and Finland signed a contract for the delivery of 124 Leopard 2 A4 main battle tanks. However, not all vehicles were intended for further use as main battle tanks. While 100 vehicles were to be used as such, another 12 were to be kept in stock as spare parts and six each were to be converted into the Leopard 2L armoured bridge-laying vehicle and the Leopard 2R armoured engineer and mine-clearing vehicle. In total, Finland procured 139 "Leopard" 2 A4 main battle tanks of construction lots 1 to 6 from Bundeswehr stocks. This publication shows the three Finnish "Leopard" 2 variants.
