The explosive objects and obstacles - actual "wonder weapons" in terms of efficiency and effect - have become superfluous with Switzerland's current army concept. However, the researched history, the described technology, the development of the various systems and their planned use show how imaginative the planners of the "wonder weapons" were.
For decades, numerous bridges, tunnels, roads and railways in Switzerland were prepared with explosives by the military. This ensured that in the event of an enemy attack, lasting destruction of the traffic routes could be carried out quickly. Additional artificial obstacles in the form of steel girders or hump barriers were intended to make the advance more difficult. These extensive defence preparations have been kept secret until now.
