Peace emperor against his will. Ferdinand III (1608-1657), who belonged to the Austrian line of the Habsburgs, is counted among Wallenstein's bitterest opponents. He was born in Graz on 13 July 1608, a good 400 years ago, the son of the future Emperor Ferdinand II and his first wife Maria Anna, daughter of Wilhelm of Bavaria and sister of Maximilian of Bavaria. In 1625 he was crowned King of Hungary, in 1627 King of Bohemia. In his biography, the author sketches Ferdinand III as an imposing, nationally minded personality who also distinguished himself as a patron of the arts and sciences, and was himself very musical, appearing among other things as a composer of masses, hymns and a musical drama. Of his musical compositions, Wolfgang Ebnet had an aria with 36 variations printed in Prague in 1648, for example. He also created a setting of the Lauretan Litany, which was extremely popular in the 17th century. Approx. 560 pages.
