In the book, the course of the battle is meticulously described. Among other things, the political situation in Emsdorf on the eve of the Seven Years' War and the course of the military conflicts in the Marburg region up to the battle on 16 July 1760 are described. The reader is informed about the logistical system of the time and learns why the battle at Emsdorf still plays a major role in British military history today and why an "Emsdorf Street" in the small Scottish town of Lundin Links still commemorates the event.
A book on the battle at Emsdorf on 16 July 1760 has been published to coincide with the Battle of Emsdorf event on 9 June 2019. At Emsdorf, during the Seven Years' War, this skirmish pitted nearly 5,000 French soldiers under the command of Baron Christian von Glaubitz against some 5,300 soldiers under the command of Hereditary Prince Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, composed of English, Hanoverian and Hesse-Casselian formations allied with Prussia. The clash began at 13:00 near Emsdorf and did not end until after 19:00 near Niederklein.
