Chronicle of the American occupation of Thuringia and parts of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt from 30 March - 8 May 1945. The accompanying book begins its records on 30 March 1945. In early April 1945, American troops cross the Werra River near Eisenach in Thuringia. This marks the beginning of the push into the heart of Central Germany, as a result of which all of Thuringia and parts of Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony are occupied by American troops. In the same month, the historic first encounter with the allied Soviet troops takes place on the Elbe. On 8 May 1945, World War II in Europe ended with the surrender of the German Wehrmacht. This is also the conclusion of this chronological treatise.

An impressive summary of the book series "The End of the War in Central Germany 1945", which has so far comprised 7 volumes. The author writes: "While the individual documentaries deal in detail with the military events in April/May 1945 and the occupation period, this book is intended to give a general overview of the course of the occupation and at the same time serve as a guide to the advance of the American troops, broken down by army and corps. This should enable those interested in history to assign the occupation of a particular region to an army and a corps and thus help them in their search for information."
