At the end of the Algerian War, the French army realised that it needed a light wheeled armoured vehicle. This book describes the development of the AML "Panhard" since the early 1960s. An account of the development and operational history of this French wheeled armoured vehicle takes the reader to places such as Chad, Lebanon, the Central African Republic and alongside the French Foreign Legion. The AML "Panhard" accompanied the soldiers in all their battles in Africa, from the victorious attacks on Libyan airfields in the middle of the desert to the joint intervention with the French troops of Serval.
As the AML "Panhard" was also used by other armed forces, the work also describes the export of the wheeled armoured vehicle abroad and its use there. In essence, the volume contains a large number of accounts by people who developed, built and ultimately operated the AML "Panhard" in military service. The book contains a large number of photos and documents on the "Panhard" to document the technical, operational and human components of this armoured vehicle.
