For once, this issue is not devoted to a specific operation, campaign or battle of the Napoleonic Wars, but to the fate of the soldiers of Napoleon's I Grand Armee who were taken prisoner in Russia. The volume documents in words and pictures the circumstances of capture, the rounding up of prisoners from the various theatres of battle, the lives of the Napoleonic soldiers in Russian captivity and finally their repatriation. There is also an article on the imprisonment of French prisoners of war in Great Britain, remarks on the organisation and uniforming of the army of the Grand Duchy of Hesse-Kassel, and a new analysis of paintings.
