After the French Revolution in 1789, Austria and Prussia attempted to eliminate this new society. In 1792, they invaded France with Imperial troops at their side, including 10,000 Saxons. The years 1793 to 1796 of the First War of the Coalition are recounted, in which Electoral Saxon troops were involved. Later in the Napoleonic era, well-known names such as Thielmann, Funck and LeCoq passed their first tests as young officers. Based on the history of the Saxon army by Schuster and Francke, the author recalls mostly forgotten episodes of that time.
