Volume 28 of the series "Imágenes de Guerra" deals with the heavy and late fighter tank models that were used by the German tank units from about 1943 onwards. These include, for example, the "Ferdinand" and "Elefant" fighter tanks, which were based on the unrealised "Porsche" variant of the "Tiger", the "Jagdpanther" and the "Jagdtiger", which was huge in size. The lighter models from the late phase of the war include the Jagdpanzer IV and "Hetzer".
The author reports on the initial development problems encountered with one vehicle or another, the difficulties caused by the scarcity of resources as the war progressed, and, of course, the deployment of German Jagdpanzers in the various theatres of war. He explores the question of what might have happened if these armoured vehicles had been available to the Germans on the battlefield earlier and in significantly larger numbers. More than 200 photos show the German fighter tanks on various fronts in the European and North African theatre of war.
