Description
Posterity usually paints a gloomy picture of the general and Duke of Friedland, calling him an unscrupulous war entrepreneur, a prince turned rich, sometimes a traitor. Albrecht von Wallenstein (1583-1634), whose real family name was Waldstein, is regarded by many as the true beast of the Thirty Years' War. This catalogue volume, published on the occasion of the Lützen exhibition of the same name in 2012, brings together recent essays by Swedish, Czech and German scholars dealing with both the phenomenon of Wallenstein and the fighting of the time.
