Description
In 1915, the German submarine U-20 sank the passenger ship "Lusitania", which led two years later to the entry of the USA into the war and thus to the victory of the Allies over the German Empire. This book is not only the story of a submarine, but also the history of a technological revolution of newly developed diesel engines with which U-20 was equipped and with which it ventured out into the open Atlantic and into the waters around the British Isles.
U-20 paved the way for modern submarine warfare. In 1916, the submarine was beached off Vrist on the west coast of Jutland, where parts of the wreck still lie today. The book offers the opportunity to meet the two commanders of U-20 and to discover numerous new photos.
