Descriptionof Bunker "Hornisse" - KZ-Häftlinge in Bremen und die U-Boot-Werft der "AG Weser" 1944/45
Under the code name "Hornisse", forced labourers and concentration camp prisoners were forced to build a bunker in Bremen-Gröpelingen from August 1944, which was intended for the construction of submarine sections of the "AG Weser". Housed in the Riespott satellite camp of Neuengamme concentration camp and subjected to the murderous principle of "extermination through labour", many members of the so-called "Hornisse" naval commando lost their lives. Eyewitness accounts and documents reveal the extent to which Bremen was covered by a network of camps in which forced labourers, prisoners of war and, from 1943, concentration camp inmates were forced to suffer and die.
