The "Tirpitz" was undoubtedly one of the most elegant warships of her generation. The sister ship of the "Bismarck" spent most of her career in the Norwegian fjords and was an undisputed power. After brief, unsuccessful attacks on Allied convoys, a huge struggle began to render Hitler's last battleship harmless. The author presents the various efforts of the Allies (using one-man torpedoes, small submarines and "Lancaster" bombers with special bombs) to finally render the "Queen of the North" harmless.
The actions of the British in destroying the giant is strongly supported by the Norwegian resistance fighters who stop at nothing to disable the heavy ships of the Kriegsmarine. The "Tirpitz" had a role to fulfil in this war, that of "Fleet in Being", and she fulfilled it perfectly.
