Description
This publication depicts the events surrounding the naval battle of No Ryang in 1598 in the form of a 48-page comic strip with detailed illustrations by Q-Ha and San Dong Lee and a story by Jean-Yves Delittle. The last eight pages are a historical dossier on the naval battle of No Ryang, containing the most important facts about the famous naval battle.
In the 16th century, Japan has long since freed itself from all outside influences and has become a powerful state ruled by an emperor who is equal to a deity. A Japan in search of recognition and finding it increasingly difficult to bear the condescension of its imposing Chinese neighbour, who can only imagine relations with another state as being like the relationship of a vassal to his king. And since China refuses to treat Japan as an equal, war will inevitably ensue. With the landing of a 200,000-strong Japanese army on Korea's southern coast on 25 May 1592, the Imjin War breaks out and will last for more than six years. There will be great victories and sad defeats. In the end - because no war lasts forever - a sea battle and one man will bring victory to one camp. The man is Korean and named Yi Sun-sin, and it is the Battle of Noryang.
