Description
History, it seems, becomes not only physically experienceable and thus tangible in historical reenactment, but also widely communicable. From an analytical point of view, the embodied return of the past therefore raises numerous questions. How can the complex phenomenon of reenactment be researched? What terms, concepts and methods are available for this in the various disciplines? While these problems have already been much discussed in English-language discourse, this volume is the first to systematically present approaches to reenactment research for a German-speaking target audience.
With the help of case studies from the USA, Poland and Germany as well as through different disciplinary approaches, the volume provides an insight into the broad spectrum of current research approaches from the disciplines of history and cultural studies.
