The study of the Zaptiè Corps begun in issue no. 8 of this series continues (and concludes) here with an analysis of the units that operated in the Libyan colonies during the period of Italian administration. However, the duration of this period varied considerably depending on the location, as the last inland areas were not occupied until between 1931 and 1932, just a decade before the loss of the entire colony. To complement the research on the Zaptiè, the author undertook an initial in-depth study of the other public security forces that, unlike in the colonies of East Africa, supported the Carabinieri in their institutional service: police bands, local guards, gendarmerie and indigenous police forces until the establishment of the Italian Africa Police on the eve of the Second World War.
