Description
The police were a central instrument of rule of the Nazi regime. From its beginnings to its downfall, it was able to rely on the police. The exhibition and catalogue show that not only the Gestapo, but also the criminal investigation department and the uniformed police persecuted the political and ideological opponents of the Nazi state - initially inside the German Reich and, from the beginning of the war in 1939, also in the territories conquered by the Wehrmacht. All branches of the police were involved in the Nazi genocide, in the suppression of resistance and in the deportation of civilians for forced labour
