Napoleon's reign as Emperor of the French lasted from 1804 to 1815. This period was characterised by military conflicts, which did not necessarily originate with Napoleon and also ran counter to his actual political interests. However, Napoleon was a brilliant general who managed to gain the upper hand in almost all the battles he fought in. However, fate was not kind to him, and so the emperor experienced his Waterloo in the truest (later) sense of the word. The memoirs of a wide range of soldiers are outlined here, from 16 battles that Napoleon himself led as commander. The reflections of the more than 80 protagonists come from almost all of the European nations of the time. Victories and defeats, but above all the enormous commitment of the fighters, significantly influenced the imperishable fame of the general Napoleon.
