Description
December 1805: The Battle of Austerlitz had been fought. The Emperor Napoleon, who had been crowned for a year, rushed from victory to victory and reached the height of his power in 1811. France's catchment area encompassed almost all of Europe. An heir to the throne was born. From this position, Napoleon decided to bring the now renegade Russia to its knees. The seemingly sure plan failed. The campaign of 1812 turned into a disaster. Nevertheless, France managed to gain the upper hand once more. Then the Battle of Leipzig in 1813 broke the Kaiser's supremacy. The treatise introduces those troops who marched alongside France and did not lack commitment and bravery.
In diaries and memoirs, those who took part in the fighting recorded it and created a picture of the time from their point of view. They were Poles, Dutch, Croats, Portuguese, Danes, the various Rhine Confederates with Bavarians, Saxons, Mecklenburgers and many more. April 1814: Napoleon abdicated. Almost all the allies had now become enemies. June 1815: A last stand was of no avail. Old Europe was united and drove the former ruler to a desert island in the southern Atlantic.
