In Napoleon's reign, about 1500 generals served in the army. If we assume that more than one in 10 gave their lives without dying of natural causes, it is reasonable to assume that 200 generals died for Napoleon. Most of the generals were killed in battles and warlike conflicts or were so badly wounded that the end was near. There were not entirely clear-cut cases like those of Generals Oudet and Junot. There were those where victors' justice or the mob left them to die. Presented here are 25 generals who were more likely to be among those who were assigned a place in history and thus might be familiar to the reader from different points of view.
