Description
Volume 26 of the series "Les Batailles Oubliees" deals in detail with the Battle of Verneuil on 17 August 1424, one of the most serious defeats of the French in the long Hundred Years War. At this battle, the army of the Dauphine Charles VII, consisting of Lombard, Spanish, Scottish and French contingents, led by the Scottish noble Archibald Douglas, met an English force under the Duke of Bedford, regent in France for King Charles VI of England.
This work describes not only the course and consequences of the Battle of Verneuil, not infrequently referred to by the English as the 'second Agincourt', but also the military events in the three years preceding the battle, including the French victory at Bauge in 1421 and the subsequent defeat at Cravant.
