Folio 16 of the series "Les Batailles Oubliées". February 1811 French troops under Marshal Victor have been besieging the Spanish city of Cádiz for a year. Generals Manuel de Lapena and Thomas Graham, at the head of Spanish and British troops, landed at Algeciras and Tarifa and led their troops to Chiclana to attack the French lines in the rear. On 5 March, the French and Spanish-British troops met at Bermeja and Barrosa. The French troops retreated before the allied Spanish and British. The fighting was very bitter and the French 8th Line Infantry Regiment lost its golden eagle in the battle. Using French, British and Spanish sources of all kinds, the author gives a detailed account of the fighting from the point of view of all parties to the conflict.
