With the Leguan armoured bridge-laying vehicle, officially known as the battlefield bridge (GFB), the engineers can cross small rivers and other terrain obstacles independently of fixed crossings. The system has a load-bearing capacity of more than 70 tons, and in exceptional cases even up to 90 tons. This means that all combat vehicles can use the Leguan's crossings. When other vehicles cannot move forward, the Leguan comes into play. It is based on the chassis of the Leopard 2 battle tank. Vehicles of this type that have been decommissioned so far are now being converted into the Leguan. It is delivered with two 14-meter-long bridges. The Leguan can lay a crossing within five minutes and resume it within seven minutes.
