Prussia 1756-63.
The Mounted Field Corps were used to locate and reconnoiter staff headquaters, they acted as guides for army convoys and they often were engaged in guarding the King and the royal family on their travels.
This exclusive troop called each other "Messieurs" and a retiering soldier could expect to be given a lucrative position in one of the states forrests.
