Clemens-Heinrich and Erbo Count von Kageneck, two brothers from one of the oldest knightly families in Alsace, both took up the profession of their forefathers and also learned the profession of officer before the outbreak of war. Clemens-Heinrich Graf von Kageneck, as an officer in the tank troop, and his brother Erbo, as a fighter pilot, were awarded the Oak Leaf of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross for their military achievements and personal commitment.
