The Royal Canadian Air Force, together with the Army and Navy of Canada, forms an integrated part of the Canadian Armed Forces, whose commander-in-chief is currently the British King Charles III. who is represented in this function by the Governor-General. The primary mission of the Canadian Armed Forces, with its current 12,000 soldiers, is to protect Canada's territorial integrity, secure its airspace and support political and military alliances, especially NATO. Part 2 of this two-parter chronicles the history of the Canadian Air Force from the 1960s to the present day.
