Survival fight in Karelia. The Russians have pushed the German armies in Karelia back to the Finnish border. The group of a mountain hunter company led by Oberjäger Werner Teichmann no longer receives the order to withdraw. The soldiers are suddenly left to their own devices in their bunker on the edge of a Karelian forest. This situation puts a great strain on the men and puts their discipline and comradeship to a severe test. Finally, eight soldiers set out to cross the Finnish border. But to do so, they first have to cross Finland, which has become enemy territory, to reach neutral Sweden. This novel is based on a true story. It is based on the eyewitness account of a participant and is an urgent reminder never to let such a war become insane again.
