The F3D "Skyknight" was developed as a carrier aircraft for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Although it never achieved the notoriety of the F-86 "Sabre", it did score some aerial victories against North Korean MiG-15s during the Korean War as a night fighter. In the Vietnam War, the F3D served as a platform for various electronic warfare systems. The construction, development and use of this aircraft are described here in detail. Numerous previously unpublished illustrations show this somewhat forgotten aircraft. Colour profiles document paint schemes and markings.
