After Henschel's version of the heavy battle tank "Tiger" had been given preference over Professor Ferdinand Porsche's design, the approximately one hundred remaining chassis of the "Porsche Tiger" were to form the basis for a new tank destroyer - the tank destroyer "Ferdinand". Author Michael Fröhlich competently describes everything worth knowing about the origin, development, technology, armament and fate of this fighter tank, of which about 90 were built and sent into combat from 1943. Many never-before-seen illustrations, technical drawings and sketches round off the volume.
