The British campaign in Abyssinia is probably one of the most unusual in military history. The cause was that the Abyssinian King Theodore II felt insulted because a letter from him to Queen Victoria went unanswered. As a result, he took European hostages. The British equipped an unheard-of punitive expedition: 12000 men and 30000 beasts of burden were landed at Zulla on the Red Sea and Harry Flashman played an unwanted but important role. "Flashman's Campaign" is the 11th and final novel written by George MacDonald Fraser.
