The aim of this book is to share with aviation history enthusiasts the most significant part of the extensive photo archive compiled by Fausto Balilla Albani, who was a fighter pilot in the Regia Aeronautica during the Second World War, throughout his career as a military and civil pilot. His involvement in the war was intense, lasting from the first days of the war on the Mediterranean front until April 1945 in the ranks of the R.S.I. (Repubblica Sociale Italiana, Italian Social Republic) Air Force. After the war, Albani continued to fly until 1980. The most important part of the collection covers the years from 1940 to 1945, with numerous unpublished images of people and machines on various war fronts, but the other sections are also rich in interesting historical and technical aspects.
