Volume 23 of the "Planes & Pilots" series is dedicated to the Gruman F-14 "Tomcat", a true legend among modern fighter aircraft. Not least due to feature films such as "Top Gun" or "Countdown", this aircraft has achieved worldwide fame. The volume presents all squadrons of the U.S. Navy that were equipped with the F-14 "Tomcat" and briefly describes the history of the aircraft within the unit. In addition, there are some colour photos of the aircraft as well as colour aircraft profiles showing the squadron-specific paint patterns, markings and insignia. In addition to the section on the individual "Tomcat" squadrons, the volume also provides information on the development and history of the F-14 in general.
