Between 1940 and 1945, the American automobile manufacturer "Chevrolet" produced about 160000 examples of its four-wheel drive 1.5-ton truck for the U.S. Army and the other Allies. This vehicle had to fulfil a multitude of tasks for the armed forces. It served as a transport vehicle for all conceivable supplies, as a troop transporter and liaison vehicle, as a transporter for bombs for the U.S. Army Air Force, as a tractor, etc.
