The French Army's airborne troops greatly increased in size during the Indochina War, following the creation of the first units of their kind in 1943-1945 with the help of the Allies. This book presents the French parachute soldiers in action in Algeria, describing their uniform and equipment, all metal and cloth insignia, including the famous red beret, but also, for the first time, the parachutes and other jumping equipment, as well as the weapons.
One chapter is devoted to the "Air Parachute Commandos", an unjustly overlooked subject until now. With regard to uniform and equipment, this period is characterised by a great heterogeneity, which is expressed in many special details of the French parachute soldiers of this theatre of war, which are presented in this work by means of 24 colour reconstructions. There are also contemporary bw and colour photographs, colour photographs of original pieces of uniform and equipment, and maps.
