The Indochina War has gone down in history, while the last witnesses are gradually passing away. On the initiative of the military history society "La Sabretache", fourteen former members of the French expeditionary corps in the Far East recount their memories as soldiers. They were young officers or non-commissioned officers at the time. Their view as leaders who were in contact with the troops differs from the official historiography and the reports of the general staff. They report on their combat experiences in a context to which they had to adapt with their men and whose trials they shared. They also give their thoughts on these events from the distance of time. Their unpublished testimonies are accompanied by a rich iconography, also unpublished. These writings have real documentary value. They report on what directly concerns the units during their missions with their weapons and equipment. In many places, a little-known aspect of the conflict is also addressed: the Vietnamese who fought alongside the French army for the independence of their country.
